In April of 2015, my position as a Science Editor at Pearson Education, where I had worked for seven years, was eliminated. Making lemonades out of lemons, I pivoted my career toward my first passion: Fiction. A small press in New York had published my first novel several years earlier, and I had successfully self-published a collection of short stories in 2007. (Esquire magazine had generously called the title story of the collection "a pleasure to read.") I had also earned an MA from Boston University's Graduate Creative Writing Program in 1990. Now, following a gratifying career as a Science Editor, seemed like the appropriate time to return to my roots.

Since pivoting my editing to Fiction, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of talented and enthusiastic writers: established authors, successful independent writers, young (and old) newcomers...and writers who have never published a word in their life. I have worked as a Fiction Editor at Clean Reads (formerly Astraea Press), one of the leading publishers of “clean” genre-based ebooks, where I edited YA, Science Fiction, Dystopian, Fantasy, Romance, and Historical Fiction. And I am currently the lead freelance Fiction Specialist at BookBaby's preferred vendor, Cenveo, where I edit YA, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Horror, short story collections, memoir, and historical and literary novels.

Today, you can find me helping independent authors craft their manuscripts out of my home office in Newton, Massachusetts.
